East Hill’s Women’s Ministry is based on Titus 2:3-5, where older women are commanded to teach younger women. We believe every woman – at every age – is “older” and therefore modeling behavior to those younger than them. We seek to provide Biblical opportunities for the many roles God has for women and allow them to use their abilities accordingly.
Some of the opportunities:
- The Clothing Exchange
This is an opportunity to “do good to all people, especially those who belong to the family of believers.” It is a massive undertaking to sort the tons of clothing donations packed into the clothing building, but the rewards are massive as well. Many in our congregation and people throughout York are able to clothe their families at the changing of the seasons. Kimberlee Tandy organizes this ministry. - Ladies Bible Class (Wednesday Nights)
A Christian Soldier is either engaged in the battle or in training. Wednesday Ladies Class, through a team approach, hopes to provide training and a safe place to fall/unburden/share where various topics relevant to women’s lives are presented. This quarter the class is studying Genesis with Leanna Hawley. - Ladies Bible Class (Thursday Mornings)
From 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall each week, this is an opportunity for women to be together during the day when they are not exhausted at day’s end. Studies tend to be more exhaustive in both Word of God and relationally, given the smaller group size and dynamics. Young moms are especially encouraged to attend with childcare provided and inter-generational fellowship providing some life perspective. - Meals for Moms
This program primarily organizes women to provide meals for families with new little ones. The new moms are blessed by this provision and meal providers are given an excuse to see the precious new baby. - Prayer Pals
This ministry is intended to provide spiritual growth for East Hill school students and to build a bridge between generations. Those willing to make a commitment to pray for a student, fill out a form and are assigned a student. Prayer pals have an opportunity to meet on a Sunday morning after worship. The Prayer pal then prays for the student throughout the year. The bulletin provides ideas for topics of prayer. Kay Magner organizes this ministry. - Secret Sisters
This is a ministry where women have the opportunity to pray for and encourage their secret sister throughout the school year. There is daily opportunity to pray for and uplift your sister and gifts are accepted by not required. Tera Knapp organizes this ministry. - One-on-one Bible Study
We would love to offer support, encouragement and teaching through one-on-one study for any woman interested. If you would like more info, please contact Rose Miller. - Baby or Wedding Showers
New babies and weddings are something to celebrate, and we are so blessed to have facilities that allow us to share in these special occasions together. The shower information document is located HERE.
